Bernard Matte holds a B.A. and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Montreal and has completed the necessary course work for an M.A. in Public Administration at the École nationale d'administration publique (ENAP). He has nearly 22 years of experience in the field of economic analysis and planning. Since April 1998, he has been Director of Planning and Labour Market Information at Quebec's department of employment and social solidarity (Emploi et Solidarité sociale Québec), where he is responsible for analysing and providing information on the labour market, planning, and outcomes evaluation for one of Quebec's largest government agencies. He also directs the Centre d'étude sur l'emploi et la technologie (CETECH).
