Cathy Drummond became Regional Executive Head in Nova Scotia Region, Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC), in September 2003.
After working for a number of years as a professional artist and in private consulting, Ms. Drummond began her career in the public service in 1985 with Agriculture Canada, as a planning officer for agricultural technical assistance projects in Latin America. She held several positions at Agriculture over the next 8 years, first in the international development area and then in the Deputy Minister's office, where she was Director of Parliamentary Affairs and then Corporate Secretary of the Department.
Ms. Drummond joined Human Resources Development Canada in 1993 as the Deputy Minister's Executive Assistant and the next year took on the job of Director General, Strategic Communications. In 1995, she became Director General, Program Policy and Planning in Income Security Programs. She was appointed Regional Executive Head, Newfoundland and Labrador region, in April 2001.
Originally a Nova Scotian, Ms. Drummond attended Queen's University and Laurentian University in Sudbury, from which she holds a B.A. in English and History.
