D. S. (Don) Heath Vice President, Human Resources Suncor Energy Inc.

Don was appointed to his current role in March 2004. Don oversees the development and coordination of compensation, staffing, talent management, leadership development, and shared services such as benefits, payroll and pensions. His group also provides support to Suncor’s five business units through a centralized employee support centre located in Calgary.

Don joined Suncor in 1997 to lead their energy services group, marketing natural gas to residential and small commercial customers. In 2000 he was appointed to the role of Vice President Business Services, responsible for providing company wide business services, strategic planning and new business development opportunities for the business unit based in Ontario.

Prior to joining Suncor Don spent 12 years with Union Gas Limited and its unregulated marketing affiliate Union Energy in senior management positions in Sales, Operations and Marketing. Don was heavily involved in the deregulation of Ontario ’s energy market and was an active member in both the Canadian and Ontario Natural Gas Associations.

Don has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Royal Military College and a M.B.A. from the University of Calgary . He is married and has one adult child.
