Paul Brennan currently holds the position of Director of Corporate and Community Relations at the Secretariat of the ACCC, which is the national association of Canada’s 150 public colleges, cégeps and institutes of technology serving 2.5 million learners in over 900 Canadian communities. As such he is responsible for the work of the ACCC Sectoral Liaison Unit, the ACCC Corporate Alliance Program and the National Learning Initiative for the Community and Voluntary sector.
The ACCC Sectoral Liaison Unit he directs is responsible for facilitating ever-increasing collaborations between over fifty college “Affinity Groups”, made up of over 6,000 administrators, faculty, staff and student leaders, with over thirty national employer/employee HR Sector Councils and other national or international associations concerned with labour market issues, as well as with the concerned federal ministries and agencies. The aim of this work is to make college curriculum even more relevant and responsive to the needs of the labour market and to increase the access of all Canadians to such learning.
Previously Paul was the Manager responsible for all ACCC overseas partnerships in Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa. He has also given a number of the ACCC training workshops for college staff on how to manage sustainable partnership projects overseas and on how to lead change in a complex environment.
Mr. Brennan has Bachelor's and Master’s degrees specializing in modern Asian and African history, and more recently has completed a Masters of Management at McGill University in Leadership of National Not-for-profit Associations. He has taught at Cégep de Rosemont, John Abbott College, l’Université du Québec á Montréal and Concordia University. He is fluent in French, English and Mandarin Chinese, with some study of Spanish. He has also studied, lived and worked in China, Indonesia and Zimbabwe during his career.
