Wayne Penney

Appointed Assistant Deputy Minister in April 2002 with direct responsibility for client services in the areas of Income Support; Career, Employment and Youth Services; Labour Market Development; co-management of the Canada-NL Labour Market Development Agreement; and the development of an immigration strategy for the province. A graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, Bachelor of Arts, 1973 and Bachelor of Social Work, 1979, Mr. Penney has been employed with the Provincial Government for 32 years, beginning his career as a Social Worker. He has served in management positions throughout the Province, including Regional Manager for Labrador and Eastern Regions, and Director of Income Support. Wayne and his wife Barbara have two children.
