Wilf Falk
Manitoba Bureau of Statistics (MBS)
Wilf Falk is the Chief Statistician of Manitoba with the Manitoba Bureau of Statistics (MBS). MBS is the central statistical agency of the Province of Manitoba. It is a full-service information services agency for all decision making levels of the Manitoba Government and its departments and agencies. Information services are also provided to business, other governments and the general public.
Mr. Falk has a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Masters of Science degree in Statistics from the University of Manitoba. He also has post graduate education in Economics and Information Technology. He has extensive experience teaching Statistics courses at the University of Manitoba.
He is a member of the Statistical Society of Canada and the Statistical Association of Manitoba. He has served on the Executive of both organizations.
As part of the National Climate Change Process, Wilf served as the Provincial-Territorial Co-chair of the Analysis & Modelling Group (AMG). The AMG was tasked, by the joint Council of Ministers of Energy and Environment, with estimating the economic and environmental impacts, to Canada and the individual provinces and territories, of meeting Canada’s Kyoto Protocol commitment.
Over the last two years, Wilf has been giving presentations on Manitoba’s demographic future. They highlight that the future will be about change and how we adapt to it. The challenges are not insurmountable. We need to responsive to the changes, with partnerships and working together being very important.
