CONCURRENT SESSION PRESENTERS

GENERAL ROLE

The general role of concurrent session presenters is to impart new or specialized knowledge to conference participants through presentations, lectures, or demonstrations.

Specific suggestions regarding participation/involvement by concurrent session presenters are:

Prior to the conference:

  • Presenters will receive confirmation (by email) of the topic and location of the workshop in which they will be speaking/participating.

  • Please note that your travel costs, including airfare, taxis, hotel, and meals, will be paid by the FLMM LMI Working Group. We request that you contact our conference coordinator, Tara Torchia-Wells, by phone at 204.772.3133, or by email at tara@plannersplus.ca to arrange your travel and accommodation requirements. This will ensure that charges are applied to our master account.

  • Presenters are requested to:

    • Register for the conference by January 22, 2007. Program and registration information will be available on the Forum website at: http://www.flmm-lmi.org.

    • By January 29, 2007, provide a brief biographical note and 2-3 sentence abstract of your topic to be included on the Forum website and in participants’ Forum kit.

    • By January 29, 2007, provide an electronic version, if applicable, of any audio-visual materials, or written text you may be using during your presentation.

Day of conference:

Arrival: you should arrive at the room where your session will occur 5-10 minutes before the start to familiarize yourself with seating, and audio-visual equipment arrangements, if applicable. A FLMM member will be present to help you and ensure that workshop proceedings run smoothly.

During Session: Presenters should aim to speak for no longer than 30-40 minutes.

Question Period: A question period will usually follow after the presenter concludes.

Final Comments: About 5 minutes before the end of the session, stop taking questions and make any brief final observations.

Closing the Session: Please adjourn the session on time according to program timeframes. Kindly inform participants of the next agenda item and its location as indicated in the conference kit.

NOTE: if you are not fully bilingual, we suggest that you pick up a headset at the Simultaneous Interpretation Desk.
